We have established ‘CARE” center for the rehabilitation of children with mental disorders and mental illness at Hospital for Mental Health, Delhi Darwaja, Ahmedabad. Since 2009, Human Development & Research Foundation (HDRF) plays a pivotal role in catering to the psychiatric needs of children in the age group ranging between 6 years to 18 years. The institute has children of different illness like MR with cerebral palsy, Hyperactive and Slow Learning capacity. We have multidisciplinary highly educated, experienced and dedicated team consisting of Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Neurologists, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech & Language Specialist and Special Educators for slow learners.

As a result, approximately 5000 children and their parents in last 12 years have been trained and many of them successfully rehabilitated and resettled.

Activities Done By “CARE”

Therapeutic Treatments

We provide Psychological treatments like speech therapy, Physiotherapy, Nutritional counseling, Genetic Counseling, Musical therapy, Yoga and Meditation.

Counseling

Team of the expert doctors are providing counseling of the children including their parents and give them comprehensive training and complete guidance to suggest them appropriate treatment. Children are also provided with accommodative and medicinal facilities at the center.

Pickup and Drop Facility

We have also providing facilities of pickup and drop to beneficiaries from their home to hospital (Center).

Sensory Units

We have established a basic Sensory unit at the Centre for children to undergo different experience such as stimulation, visual expression, colors identification, displays, touch & feel, etc. HDRF has successfully established sensory unit since January 2018.

Festival Celebrations

As part of ongoing activities, our Day Care Centre has celebrated a number of festivals such as Navratri, Birth day celebrations, Kite flying competitions, Raksha Bandhan, mini Olympic and Picnics.

Mini Olympic

It is a matter of pride that many children from our Centre have been selected to participate in a mini Olympic organized by Govt. of Gujarat out of which 3 of them have won awards, cash prizes and certificates.

Skill Training

HDRF also provides vocational /Occupational training and gives different Opportunities to children to grow and prosper in every areas of life and around 123 beneficiaries are trained at our centers.

Awareness Camp

We are also running awareness camps for surveying the Beneficiaries for registration in special schools of MR. we educate them to give priority over enrolling them into the rehabilitation center.

Medical Camp

We organized health checkup camps to identify children who require more attention and comprehensive training. A team of experts also provided number of counseling sessions for the parents of these Special children and has helped in creating & spreading further awareness on this subject.

Projects

We have worked under the Dindayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme under the Department of Empowerment of person with Disabilities and provided Home based Rehabilitation to around 400 children.
We have also provided skill development to the children at Hospital for Mental Health located at Ahmedabad and given training to 500 children.
Our CARE Project for MI & MR children is selected by National Committee for promotion of Social and Economic Welfare for deduction under Section 35AC of IT Act.
Our project for DDRS – day care and home based rehabilitation special school for MR, has been accepted by Social Justice & Empowerment Department of Government of India.
